MTSU’s Computer Science Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree with two options, the professional concentration program, accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Science, the business applications concentration(not accredited), and the Cybersecurity Systems concentration (not accredited). These programs include a common core of 30 computer science hours plus 15 mathematics hours. They require different upper division computer science courses. The professional concentration program also requires more science and mathematics courses, while the business applications emphasis requires additional business courses. There are over 300 undergraduate majors. In addition to a major in Computer Science, the Department offers a minor in Computer Science.
Graduates from both concentrations are well prepared for the job market. They have historically been valued by area employers.
